Sometimes it is hard to get yourself jazzed on your upcoming workout. It's easy to talk yourself out of going to the gym because you just don't really feel like it. The difference, however, between the all-stars, and the people who watch from the sidelines is gumption. The difference is that the all-stars put on their big kid panties and get their butt to the gym, even when they don't want to. Tired of sitting on the sidelines? Here's some tips on how to get yourself amped on working out... 1. Create a Rocking PlaylistThere's nothing better than the feeling when an awesome song comes on and pushes you through your last set. There's also few things worse at the gym when you are flipping though songs, half-assing your workout because you just can't get a good song to play. Instead of focusing on trying to find to find a good song, create a playlist before-hand. Find your favorite YouTube athlete and see what songs they listen to. For example, Gymshark has a plethora of playlists on Spotify made by their athletes like Nikki Blackketter. 2. Plan Your Workouts BeforehandEver been to the gym and found yourself wandering around, staring at equipment, doing exercises while thinking about what you're going to do next? When that happens you aren't putting your all into your workout because your mind is thinking of other things. When you plan your workouts before you get to the gym, you don't have to think, you just do it! Plus this way you won't cut your workout short because you can't think of what else to do. 3. Listen to Up-Beat Music on Your Drive to the GymNothing like jamming out to an up-beat song to get you jazzed on the gym. Even when i'm dragging or dreading my workout, I will put on an awesome song, roll the windows down and sing/dance in the car. Yes, I look stupid drinking my pre-workout and dancing to The Other Side by Jason Derulo in the car at the stoplight, but it works! Trust me. I've gotten a few laughs from people watching me but in my mind, I just made their day a little brighter on top of mine. 4. Inspire YourselfWhen I am feeling especially unmotivated I will take to YouTube and watch some of my favorite fitness vloggers. A lot of fitness personnel will post videos of themselves doing workouts, which means that you can probably find someone who is doing a similar workout/split that you are. My favorites include Yami Mufdi, Brittany Lesser, Amanda Bucci, and Heidi Somers. They are all strong women who I look up to a lot in the fitness industry. 5. Wear an Outfit You Are Confident InWhen you feel confident at the gym, your workouts are stronger, your reps are more intense, and you just feel awesome. When I wear an outfit that I don't feel comfortable in, it's all I can think about and I can't wait to get out of the gym. This happens to me if my hair is greasy too. So I pop a hat on and suddenly feel pretty bad ass wearing a hat in the gym. Why? I don't know. 6. Change it Up!Switch up your workouts. Look up new exercises, switch up your split, and try something different! Any of the YouTube people I listed in #4 have awesome workouts on their channel. Tired of doing the same ol' same ol'? Grab a few moves from their fitness plan and try them out.
Bottom line is, when you're in a good mood, your workouts are next level. If you are in a slump and just going through the motions, it's hard to keep yourself motivated. Try some of these tips the next time you're dreading a workout!
